Quote: “Some people argue that part of the reason U.S. students don’t do as well on international measures of high school knowledge is that they’re doing too well in class”, Nate Kornell, a cognitive psychologist at Williams college, told me “what you want is to make it easy to make it hard” (pg.85).
Comment: This quote struck me because of the concept that’s hidden behind it. Learning in any case in school or out is about the hurdle you’ll need to overcome to succeed. I know in school we feel like the work isn’t going to be useful in the long run, but it’s about certain concepts and bits of material you learn that really guide you into what you like in the long run.
